Focus on our Own
Francis Kong shared this on his blog;
“Life is the most difficult exam. Many people fail because they keep on copying others not realizing that everyone has a different test paper with different sets of questions. Just focus on your own.”
My new year started with this reflective insights.
At times we are guilty of this mistake. In one way or another, in different degree or accountability, we tend to simply mimic the actions of the people around us. Worse is that we mimic the way they live life. We compare ourselves and our context to others and often highlight the things others have that we do not have. According to recent research, social media exposure tends to contribute to the depression being experienced by a number of people. In social media, we often see the grand things others have…then we compare ourselves…depressions come…ultimately we fail in life. The harm of comparison.
Focus on our own. We all have our own race to run. We all have our own test paper to answer. We all have our own lives to live. To compare is irrelevant…unnecessary.
