change

At the beginning of this year, I wrote a reflection about life being made up of consolidated CHOICES and CIRCUMSTANCES.  After another 8 months in my life’s journey, I would like to add another “C” to my reflection; CHANGE.

Change as we always say is a constant thing in life. People change…time flies…situations vary. I may be well now, but can be sick later. I may be financially broke at this point, but a millionaire someday. I may be happy and contented today, but suddenly sad and longing the next day. I am alive and kicking now, but can be cold and lifeless in a blink of an eye. Change is happening. Every moment…with great precision. It is just a question of our readiness and willingness to take the changes.

Together with change are different elements; like fear, excitement, worries, plans, opportunities, etc… What element then do we usually embrace in moments of change. Is it fear? Fear that tells us to avoid or fight change? Or, is it opportunities? The one that makes us excited to traverse the new path ahead. Just recently, I was confronted by this reality of change. One that is related to my current work. I was so anxious and filled with so many apprehensions while deciphering whether to give a ‘yes or no’. But at that moment, I chose to embrace ‘opportunity’. The opportunity to grow, to learn more, to explore, to be better. The fears and worries did not vanish. But embracing change as an opportunity, put fears and worries at the peripherals. They no longer dictate decisions, but instead, they became the ground that helps me to be always on guard about all the possibilities change may bring to me. My choice on what element to embrace made all the difference.

In moments of CHANGE, make the right CHOICE to bring the right CIRCUMSTANCES as well.
