Pandemic…Crisis…Moving Forward

The pandemic pushed the whole world to a certain point of limit. The control freak in us was put to shame. We are in a situation that uncertainty is a thing to embrace. I want to share some of my thoughts;

1. I admire the effort of people to cope up or to at least anticipate possibilities that can take place. Hopefully, the effort does not bring more stress and internal conflicts. For if it does, I feel, to be still is the first lesson we should learn. Let us be aware of the danger of running in order to feel like coping up with the changes that are taking place. It will be tiring-exhausting. It is important that we channel our precious efforts now on things that are essentials.
2. Crisis moment opens up opportunities, this is what we usually hear. But we should be on the ground that opportunities do not simply sprout like mushrooms. It demands a lot of digging and deliberate search. The standstill situation should give us the time to do much of these things – to reflect, to integrate, to envision.
3. The clamor of the world now is to jump into the virtual. To migrate into the cyber world as the new platform in delivering things. As we say, it is the ‘new normal’. But BEWARE, simply jumping into this call brings great danger. “Technological advancement without Human advancement is tantamount to misery”.  It is true that a lot of things need to go online if indeed it is the ‘new normal’.  But as we jump into the virtual world let us ascertain that we do not let go of the essentials –  Mission, Principles, Kindness, Kneel (humility) – the basic in human engagement and advancement.

Thinking of my kids and the young people of this generation, I honestly fear what is coming ahead. To the decision-makers of this time, I appeal that we go beyond mere knowledge, technology, and analysis. The decisions we will take is the world our children will live in. I hope it is not one that is empty of compassion and humanity. I hope it is not just virtual.
